31 Naxalites killed in an encounter with security forces in the forests under the National Park area of District Bijapur of Chhattisgarh: IG Bastar, P Sundarraj
02 jawans lost their lives in the encounter. 02 jawans were also injured, which were brought to a private hospital in Raipur.
Operations Details:
A group of 50 Naxalite cadres had gathered near the National Park in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh police and District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel got precise intelligence input about their movement. A massive 12-hour operation was launched against the Naxalites in #Bijapur, during which heavy gunfire and explosives were exchanged.
The Naxalites had a large cache of arms and ammunition, but the security forces managed to neutralize them one by one. The 31 naxals killed belonged to the CPIM-PLGA militant group were gunned down with a huge cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and other incriminating materials recovered.

In the last 14 months, security forces in Chhattisgarh have killed 274 Naxalites, while during this period 1166 Naxalites were arrested and 969 Naxalites surrendered. So far this year, 81 Naxalites have been killed in the state, out of which 65 were from Bastar division, which includes seven districts including Bijapur. According to the police, last year 219 Naxalites were killed by security forces in various encounters in Chhattisgarh.
