The Ukraine crisis deepened on Tuesday as Russian forces intensified their shelling, leading to scarcity of food, water and medicine. Both sides held the third round of negotiations on Monday. The talks are reported to be mostly unfruitful, however, a top Ukrainian official claimed of making minor, unspecified progress toward establishing safe corridors for civilians. Meanwhile, Russia’s lead negotiator Vladimir Medinsky says Moscow’s expectations from the talks “were not fulfilled”.

On Monday, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Russia has committed nearly all its combat power stationed along the border into Ukraine.

Turkey announces it will host Russia’s and Ukraine’s foreign ministers for talks Thursday.

On Monday, stocks markets around the globe lost ground by hitting record-lows as oil soared after the United States raised the prospect of an embargo on Russian crude over its invasion of Ukraine.

Russia also warned that oil prices could surge to $300 a barrel and it might close the main gas pipeline to Germany if the West halts oil imports over the invasion of Ukraine as peace talks made little progress.
