The Indian Navy on Tuesday rescued seven fishermen off the coast of Gujarat near Okha. The Indian fishing vessel named Neelkanth had been at sea for over a week with a crew of seven. In the morning hours of March 21, the boat was flooded in the engine, resulting from the breaking of a seawater pipeline. The vessel raised a distress call when flooding became uncontrollable.

INS Karuva was patrolling in the area a few miles away when the distress call was made. The naval ship rushed to rescue the vessel and brought the entire crew of seven to safety.

INS Karuva then secured the fishing vessel alongside and provided assistance to first de-flood the vessel and then repair the defect in the ruptured pipeline, the navy said.
