More Generals Choose to Become Politicians

Lt. Gen Subrata Saha before becoming Deputy Chief of Army Staff (DCOAS) was GOC, 15 (Chinar) Corps, Srinagar overlooking counter-terrorism operations in  the valley.

He is now the BJP candidate from the Rashbehari assembly constituency in south Kolkata. 

During his tenure in the valley he was hailed as the ‘People’s General’. Not only did he reduce the number of militants through kinetic operations, he also reduced the sense of militancy in the environment.

He created the Army Design Bureau in 2016.

Post-retirement he was the founding director general of the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers and member of the National Security Advisory Board.
