MRSAM successfully testfired from INS Vishakapatnam
Medium Range Surface to Air Missile was successfully testfired from Project 15 ‘Bravo’ lead ship INS Vishakapatnam (D66) of Indian Navy on 7th March, 2023.
The MRSAM successfully intercepted an incoming sea skimming anti ship missile during the test. Modern day anti ship missiles use a sea skimming profile to avoid detection. This test proves and reaffirms India’s capability to deal with these types of threats.
MRSAM is co-developed by DRDO India and IAI Israel and is manufactured by BDL India. The missile can intercept various types of targets from 0.5km to more than 70km in range.
