Prithvi-II Missile Test Fired
A successful training launch of a Short-Range Ballistic Missile, Prithvi-II was carried out on January 10, 2023, from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
A well-established system, the Prithvi-II missile, has been an integral part of India’s nuclear deterrence.
Prithvi-II can carry a warhead up to one tonne and destroy targets at a distance of 250 Km.
The nine-meter tall missile having a diameter of 1.1-meter diameter is thrust by a liquid propulsion twin engine and uses an advanced inertial guidance system with a maneuvering trajectory.
The missile struck its target with high accuracy. The user training launch successfully validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile.
