Naval BMD successfully testfired by India

India today successfully carried out the Naval Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) interceptor missile test from an Indian Navy ship. DRDO and Indian Navy successfully testfired endo-atmospheric interceptor missile from an Indian Navy Ship off-coast Odisha, capable of taking down incoming ballistic missiles from sea.

The purpose of the trial was to engage and neutralize a hostile ballistic missile threat thereby elevating India into the elite club of Nations having Naval BMD capability.

India has already commissioned INS Dhruv and INS Anvesh ships in its fleet to help in testing and development of such advanced missile systems.
