Indian Army moves to buy Carbines and Bullet Proof Jackets
Indian Army is looking to buy another batch of modern Bullet Proof Jackets. These jackets are special purpose, capable to stop 7.62×54 General Purpose Machine Gun fire. A document stating the requirement of 47,627 units has been released.
The Jackets should have a minimum 60% local content and will be bought from Indian Industry. The weight should be around 11kgs. The protection should be of BIS 6 level. It should also be able to stop the steel core bullets which is in use by terrorists now a days.
The RFP for this will be issued in November 2022. This order will be delivered within 2 years from the date of signing of contract.
Indian Army has also released an RFI for 4,25,213 CQB Carbines of 5.56×45 under Buy “Indian” Category. RFP for the same will be issued in Nov 2022.
An effective range of 200 meters, picatinny rails, vertical forehand grip, weight of less than 3 kg is desired according to the document.
It is an opportunity for Indian Industry.
