Assam-Nagaland Could Opt To Settle Border Dispute ‘Out Of Court’

Nagaland Chief Minister Nephiu Rio said on January 24 that both Assam government and Nagaland government were ready to bring about a solution to the decades long border dispute between the two neighbouring states through an out of the court settlement. The Nagaland CM informed the media that both the CM’s would soon have a meeting with the Union Home Minister so as to discuss the roadmap for the process.

Meanwhile, delegations from Nagaland and Assam were likely to meet Amit Shah in February in order to discuss and formulate how to proceed with the settlement, informed the Nagaland CM.

Nephiu Rio told reporters in Kohima that both the state governments are in favor of an out-of-court settlement and further added that both the delegations could meet the Union Home Minister in the first half of February to discuss and formulate their roadmap.
