Rifleman Aurangzab Awarded Shaurya Chakra (P)

President today presented the Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) to Rifleman Aurangzab during Defence Investiture Ceremony, New Delhi.

Aurangzeb was part of the South Kashmir based 44 Battalion Rashtriya Rifles, was waylaid by militants and subsequently killed few kilometres away from his residence in 2018.

His bullet-riddled body was found at a village in Pulwama, hours after he had left his unit in Shopian to join his family in Rajouri for Eid celebrations.

He was part of Major Rohit Shukla’s team that gunned down Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Sameer Tiger in 2017.

The award was received by his parents today. Two of his brothers had already joined the Army after the tragic incident took place.

The family dedicated 2 more sons to the nation just 1 year after the incident.
